FGE Invited to Present at Shanghai Petroleum and Gas Exchange Inaugural Meeting

SHANGHAI (September 28, 2020) - FGE was invited by the Shanghai Petroleum and Gas Exchange (SHPGX) and CNOOC to give a presentation at the inaugural meeting for Chinese domestic players involved in international LNG trading. FGE is honoured to be the only external party to present our market views at this closed-door event and to be able to support SHPGX’s vision in developing direct trading channels between international and Chinese players.
Attendees of the event included key personnel from China’s gas players, ranging from NOCs, PipeChina, gas distribution companies, and provincial power companies to private LNG buyers and other existing and future LNG buyers. The clean energy divisions of several of these companies were also present.

In the last few years, FGE’s commercial team has extended its commercial support beyond spot and short-term procurement activities in China into long-term procurement activities by both existing and emerging players. This builds on the decades of support our research and consulting division have provided to NOCs.
In 2019/2020, FGE provided consultation services for all long-term procurement tenders issued by China. We are excited to be part of the development and transformation of the LNG business across the spot, term, and now trading markets in the region and are honoured that players in China are including us in the process.
The FGE team was represented in person by Ms. Huang Wei (Senior Analyst) from FGE’s Beijing office, with a live dial-in during the presentation by Ms. Alexis Aik (Managing Director, Global Gas/LNG), Mr. Edmund Siau (Lead Analyst), and Ms. Alicia Wee (Gas Analyst) from FGE’s Singapore office.
