European car sales up in 2014

The improvement in the economic condition has been reflected in car sales figures. During the first four months of the year, car sales jumped by 7% (Euro-15).

Among the biggest markets, sales in Spain surged by more than 16% from a year ago, while new registrations in the UK jumped 13%. The Continent's largest market, Germany posted a 3% y-on-y gain, while sales in France and Italy rose by 3.7% and 4.7% respectively. These figures are the first such increase since 2009/2010, when a scrappage scheme boosted sales. Furthermore, they indicate a stabilization of the European economies.
