Upstream Oil Analyst - London

 

Overview

An opportunity has arisen at FGE’s London office for a junior analyst to help cover our extensive upstream forecasting and support activities. 

The role involves gathering and analysing data relating to upstream oil and gas projects/companies and contributing to our in depth market analysis. 

Specific Tasks:

  • Provide analysis and interpretation of current and future trends in upstream operations (production rates, well modelling, tracking of projects, financial analysis of E&P companies, crude trade);
  • Play a key role in developing the company’s short, medium, long term outlook for crude production and trade;
  • Contribute to one or more flagship research reports produced by the company (weekly, monthly and annual basis), covering upsteam oil and crude prices.
  • Contribute to projects for clients – either in response to specific requests, or as multi-client reports;
  • Interact with clients and company offices in other regions (by email, telephone, in person presentations and video-conferencing).

The Role and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to one or more flagship research reports produced by the company (weekly, monthly and annual basis), covering upsteam oil and crude prices.
  • Contribute to projects for clients – either in response to specific requests, or as multi-client reports;
  • Interact with clients and company offices in other regions (by email, telephone, in person presentations and video-conferencing).
  • Working closely with other oil and gas experts in our other international offices to provide strategic and analytical inputs to the research and consulting group.
  • Prepare reports in a timely, relevant and thought provoking manner.
  • Maintain regular contact with clients and market participants to gather market information and develop business opportunities.
  • Develop the skills to interact with, and present to, clients in one-on-one and seminar environments.
  • Fulfil the group's research and consulting mandate as well as participate in ad-hoc projects.
  • Think creatively and do independent research and work with a project team. Need to work both individually and in a team environment.

Applicant Requirements

Highly numerate graduate ideally with oil industry experience; alternatively from a finance, engineering, economics or similar background:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, mathematics, economics, or oil and gas related discipline.
  • At least 1-2 years experience of the oil industry in an analytical role.
  • Ability to work independently and in a project team.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Good writing and oral presentation skills.
  • Fluent (written and verbal) in English .
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel ideally to macro level.
  • Able to work legally in the UK.
  • Ability to perform in a deadline driven environment.
  • Able to travel.
  • Ability to work effectively with regional offices to promote products globally.
